You are here: Battery Ordinance
As we sell batteries and devices which contain batteries, we are obligated under the battery law (BattG) to do as follows: Batteries and rechargeable batteries cannot be disposed of in household waste, it is a legal requirement that you return used batteries. Old batteries may contain harmful substances which can damage the environment or your health if not stored or disposed of properly. However, batteries also contain important raw materials like iron, zinc, manganese and nickel and these materials are recycled. After use, you can either send the batteries back or hand them in directly in your local area free of charge (e.g. a business or a community collection area). Only batteries in the amount that a business normally sells can be returned to a business. The symbol of a wheelie bin with a cross through it means the you are not allowed to dispose of batteries in household waste.
