If you like to be out in nature, you are also able to do that with your baby- however, only if you have a suitable stroller for it, e.g. the so-called jogger. Since a usual stroller is rather inappropriate for jogging and can be dangerous for your baby, a jogger is specially produced for higher speed while running. It goes vibration-free on asphaltic roads and your little one is able to sleep in it or to enjoy the view. More information >
A classic stroller should not be used for jogging under no circumstances: There is a danger to life for your child! Before all things, the suspension is important: It absorbs shocks/impacts on uneven grounds. For the wheels applies: The bigger, the better the stroller can be used. Big wheels offer a lower rolling resistance and react less to little asperities. A lot of models do only have three wheels: The single wheel is fixed to a separate axis and guarantees good steering characteristics and agility, if you are faster on the go on grounds through the forest or else. Furthermore, a three-wheel construction offers an increased stability while driving. The danger of tipping over is completely excluded.
These five things should be considered when purchasing a jogger:
If you are out and about jogging and push a jogger, you should adapt your technique. The usual motor function will be disturbed through the baby jogger: the swinging of both arms is missing here. One hand should stay at the pushing bar to constantly have it under control. Check if the free arm can swing as usual while running. During the stroll, change the arms so that each one pushes the same. It is even easier if you are not directly behind the stroller, but run a bit offset from it. However – according to the mileage – you should not to waive on a safety belt: This one will connect you safe to the stroller so that it cannot drift to another direction unexpectedly.
With a jogger you are able to pursue your love for running and be outside with your little one. Always think of your child and choose a suitable route: The bumpier the path is, the more the stroller and your child is thrilled. That could be dangerous for newborns. Their musculature is not strong enough to absorb impacts. You should start jogging on even and asphaltic roads: There won’t be any vibrations or impacts and the jogger can be pushed easier than on uneven forest paths. A lot of children are calmed down through a gentle juddering and they fall asleep easier. Your baby does not notice that you are faster on the go later on. Start your training once your child is able to hold his head on his own. That will probably be at the age of nine months. Even if it won’t be easy for you: Until then you should either jog alone or wait patiently. The training should not be longer than 45 minutes – and take your little one out of the stroller during breaks.
If you jog on forest, meadow and dirt paths, you should wait until your baby is a toddler. Only then the muscles in trunk and neck are strong enough to absorb harder impacts. To play it safe, you should ask your pediatrician for advice. If you are able to finally start, the child should lie comfortably in his jogger and be belted with the actual belt – just as in child car seats. Please check if the belt is adapted to the size of your child so that it cannot slip from the belt under any circumstances. According to the speed you have while jogging, this can get dangerous for your child. However, not only the child should carry a belt, but also you: Use one for the jogger so that you always have it safe. The safety rope leads from your wrist to the stroller and will provide enough safety.
